I really like the idea that the reason the ghost looks like an old man and a child at the same time is because it's meant to a reflection of Scrooge at all possible points in his past, from his childhood to the day before the story.

I also love that Dickens is like "he was close as I am to you - and I'm right next to you!"

The “spirit at your elbow” line is a fantastic addition for posthumous reading 😂

Why do people not write in second person like this anymore? 😄

I love that its never cleared up weather the ghosts did something to speed up the time or Scrooge really did sleep for more than a day. The uncertainty makes it extra scary.

Also, as an accountant I find the idea "If time no longer works, then my payment reminders will be worthless" pretty hilarious. Ebenezer is such a dork.

It is now very clear that I never read this book and only saw visual adaptations of them! It will be most interesting to find out the 'real' story that Dickens wrote.

Really feeling Dickens right now. Who among us hasn't gotten sick of writing out every little thing their characters say and wanted to just narrate "and then so and so asked whatsisface to do such and such..."

Love the descriptions of the cold in this, from the frost on the inside of the window to the utter necessity of having bed curtains to keep the heat in (and then be creepily drawn back by a ghostly hand).
